Frequently Asked Questions

Q Can we bring our own food?
A Food for 125 guests is already included in your package. All food, other than your cake, must be provided by The Layton Mansion.

Q How many guests can we expect?
A The formula to determine your catering numbers is: Number of local invitations X 80%.

Please keep your ceremony guests at 80; for a reception we can accommodate several hundred. You can add refreshments beyond the 125 already included for only $5.70/plate plus tax.

Q Do you charge extra for Saturday weddings?
A No, we do not. We do not charge extra for weekends, May through October weddings, cutting and serving your cake, or a weather event that forces a move inside. Also, we do not add an 18% gratuity to your catering like other reception centers.

Q How long can we be at The Layton Mansion?
A A typical wedding day:

3:00 Wedding party arrives
4:00 Ceremony begins
4:30 to 6:00 Hugging guests and photo shoot
6:00 to 8:00 Reception
8:15 Exit in limo
9:00 Premises vacated
If you are just having a reception, you will arrive an hour and a half before it starts to get ready and take photos.

Q May we have dancing?
A A simple end of the night bride-and-groom and father-daughter dance are always welcome and not subject to a fee. However, if you wish to have a dance that extends beyond the stated conclusion of the reception, you may do so for $150 per ½ hour. This requires additional time, set-up, staff, cleaning etc.

Q What decorations are in my package?
A We decorate the bridge, the cake gazebo, the mantles, and aisle chairs in your colors with flowers and ribbons (see gallery). In fact, no other reception center decorates chairs as spectacularly as Michele does. Choose and customize from 15 different centerpieces to coordinate with your décor.
